The ownership here at Kundel Industries truly believe that their calling was more than to build a successful company, but to use their talents and experiences to serve their neighbor and help those who need it . This culture has trickled down to all of us and we are very proud of the work we do. Many of us have friends and family in the trenches every day so we take our jobs very seriously and very personally.

There comes a time when we can use our platform not to make a dollar, but to shed some light on various programs where we can help those who need it most. When people hear the word OSHA, they think fines and/or being shut down but in all actuality, OSHA exists to keep people safe at work. They ensure companies take care of their employees and are providing a safe environment.

One of the greatest programs we at Kundel Industries have come across is the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program. The Susan Harwood Training Grant Program was named in honor of the late Susan Harwood, a former director of the Office of Risk Assessment in OSHA’s Health standards directorate, who died in 1996 after 17 years with OSHA. Through this program, OSHA awards grants to nonprofit organizations on a competitive basis. Grants are awarded to provide training and education programs for employers and workers on the recognition, avoidance, and prevention of safety and health hazards in their workplaces. All training materials developed and/or training conducted must serve multiple employers and workers in one or more of the following target audiences: small businesses (less than 250 employees), new businesses, limited English proficiency workers, non-literate and low literacy workers, young workers, temporary workers, minority and other hard-to-reach workers, and workers in high-hazard industries and industries with high fatality rates. In the last ten years, over 1.5 million workers have received various training in order to keep them safe on the job.

In order to see if your company or organization qualifies, visit www.osha.gov/harwoodgrants and apply for anything from Covid-19 training to Excavation and Trenching. Be sure to contact any of our staff if you have any questions regarding training in your area or any other heavy lifting or trench safety needs.
